First recorded in the 1890s, the Daiquiri is one of the finest creations of the Golden Age. Although the Daiquiri would be perfected by the maestro of The Florida Bar, we do enjoy this version by expat Wil P Taylor, the head bartender of the glitzy Hotel Nacional in Havana. The grand hotel’s opulent hey-day lasted only a couple years before the Cuban Revolution cut it short, but Taylor’s signature Daiquiri—the Hotel Nacional Especial—left behind a lasting legacy. Our version of this classic cocktail has notes of tropical fruit and spice.
