Like many spirits enthusiasts, the West Main team has been waiting with baited breath for Castle & Key to release their rye whiskey and bourbon. Since first filling barrels four years ago, Catle & Key has released their Restoration Vodka and Restoration Release London Dry Gin, as well as three subsequent seasonal gins that have charmed cocktail enthusiasts across the landscape.
Other than the gorgeous product, their devotion to story telling and authenticity is what makes Castle & Key a natural partner for West Main Crafting Co. For that reason, we’re partnering up to host West Main’s first special event in 2020! On Thursday, December 3, West Main will be celebrating Castle & Key’s rye release with a number of specials for individuals and groups, keeping an eye to offer a fun evening of escape from the vicissitudes of this year.
The core of our celebration will be a special cocktail flight, featuring three cocktails, designed to showcase the new spirit’s range and versatility. The flight will include a bright, 1860s rye Punch, a Manhattan-style cocktail served up, and a hot Baked Apple Toddy. Each flight will also include a pour of the new rye whiskey, so guests can see how it behaves in each cocktail.
Of course, flight cocktails will also be available à la carte throughout the evening. We’ll also be offering a special our house Queimada. Inspired by the original flaming brandy punch from Galicia, Spain, our “Kentucky Queimada” will show off the new rye whiskey in a unique, memorable way that will hopefully inspire you to think about (small scale) holiday entertaining and warm winter drinks.
Our kitchen will also be offering unique specials for the evening designed to engage the rye’s flavors through food, including special options for those enjoying cocktail flights. These menus will only be available for the night of December 3. We’ll be joined by our friend Bret Connors from Castle & Key, a spirits savant eager to discuss the distillery and the product in as much detail as one could handle. We are almost as excited to kick it with Bret all night as we are about the drinks and food.
With COVID restrictions still in place, space will be extremely limited for this small event, and, as we said, these drinks will be among that legendary West Main category of things prepared for only one day. We’ll be reserving two-hour slots for groups throughout the evening so, by all means, make your reservations! Slots can be reserved through OpenTable for groups of four or fewer, or by emailing our Brand Director, Jonathan, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
